Context

In May 2022 the residents of Újlipótváros were asked what Thurzó Park should become. The online consultation ran through three channels: Miutcánk, the District XIII council and social media. In nine days it reached thousands of residents.

An open consultation produces a lot of voices and very little structure. Meniva's job was to turn those answers into a clear, ranked picture of what the neighbourhood wants, in a form the people deciding on the park could act on.

The challenge

Open input is noisy. Decisions need something firm.

  • Anyone could answer

An open online survey collects duplicates, half-finished forms and answers from outside the neighbourhood. Only genuine responses should count.

  • One neighbourhood, many groups

Families, dog owners, car owners and older residents do not want the same park. A single ranking hides the trade-offs a council has to weigh.

  • The best ideas were in free text

Hundreds of open answers held the reasoning behind the ticks. They do not fit a chart, and they are easy to lose.

Meniva's contribution

From open input to decision-ready insight.

  1. 01

    Listen

The initiative, the district council and social media carried the consultation to the neighbourhood.

  2. 02

    Clean

Data cleaning and validity screening, so the picture rests on genuine responses only.

  3. 03

    Understand

Priorities and rejected options ranked, then compared across age group, household size, dog and car ownership. Open answers coded into themes.

  4. 04

    Decide

An executive summary the decision makers could read in one sitting and act on.

What residents asked for

Five priorities, in order.

Trees and green space led by a clear margin. The rest followed in this order.

  1. 01Large trees
  2. 02Green space
  3. 03Public toilets
  4. 04Benches and tables
  5. 05Safety

Themes from open answers

  • shade
  • biodiversity
  • water features
  • less concrete
  • parking
  • cleanliness
  • community events
„Minél több valódi biomasszára van szükségünk… a zöldtömeget növeljük, és rovarok, lepkék, madarak élőhelyét nyújtó évelő ágyások kerüljenek ide.”

"We need more real green mass: let's grow it, with perennial beds that are home to insects, butterflies and birds."

  • Descriptive analysis of the sample
  • Segment comparison by age, household, dog and car ownership
  • Ranked priorities and rejected functions
  • Open answers coded into themes
  • Executive summary for decision makers

When this pattern is useful

You have collected input from many people (a consultation, a survey, customer feedback) and need a defensible, ranked picture before a decision is made.

Where the claim stops

Miutcánk is shown with permission. The park's design and the decisions about it belong to the district and the initiative; Meniva's role was the analysis. No response counts, percentages or individual-level data are reproduced here.
